A complete garden zip wire kit — built for children and adults
Everything you need to build a proper garden zip wire, in one box. Our heavy-duty kit uses 8mm commercial-grade galvanised steel cable, a professional spring brake and a dual-wheeled pulley, supplied in lengths from 20m to 100m — so it suits a modest back garden or a run across a paddock.
Most garden zip wires sold in the UK are toys. This one isn't! The components are the same grade we use on the installations we carry out ourselves, which is why the kit carries adults as well as children.
Who says your back garden can't double as a miniature adventure park? Your children will love it. So, if we're honest, will you.
Not sure which length you need?
Incorrect measurement is the single most common mistake, and cable that's slightly too short can't be tensioned safely. Rather than guessing the distance, measure it accurately using a measuring wheel, surveyor’s tape or similar measuring device. Once you know the actual span, use our Zip Wire Planner — answer four simple questions about your garden and it will tell you the right kit, the price, and how much drop you need. It takes about a minute.
If your garden looks flat, or you're not sure whether it falls enough, the Slope Calculator works out the heights you'll need at each end.
You don't need to be a builder to fit it
Every kit comes with a full written installation guide and a step-by-step video guide. The written guide covers anchor selection, tree protection, cable routing, tensioning and setting the brake, with the measurements and key points written down so you can work at your own pace. The video shows the same job being done start to finish, so you can see what "right" looks like before you commit.
Most customers fit their zip wire in an afternoon with basic tools and a second pair of hands. If you'd rather not, we install nationwide — see our installation service.

Frequently asked questions
What length of cable do I need?
Measure the distance between your two anchor points, then add 5m to 10m. The extra allows for sag, for wrapping the anchors and for any error in your measuring. Too much cable is never a problem; too little means the line can't be tensioned properly. Our Zip Wire Planner works it out for you.
How much slope does a zip wire need?
We recommend a drop of around 6–8% of the run length — so roughly 1.8m to 2.4m over a 30-metre run. Too little and the rider stalls part way along; too much and they arrive too fast for the brake. On flat ground the drop comes from height at the launch end rather than from the ground, which the Slope Calculator will size for you.
What size spring will I receive?
The spring brake is sized at 10% of your cable length. A 40m zip wire ships with a 4m spring, a 60m with a 6m spring, and so on. You don't need to specify it — we match it to your order.
How do I tension the cable?
In two stages. The tensioning winch takes the weight of the cable off the ground and removes most of the slack. The turnbuckle then makes the fine adjustment, and the test weight bag lets you check the sag and the ride before anyone gets on it.
Can I use posts instead of trees?
Yes. Trees need to be healthy, mature and well positioned, but purpose-built timber posts do exactly the same job — and plenty of installations use one tree and one post. The kit is the same either way.
What size do the trees need to be?
As a guide, look for healthy, mature trees with a trunk diameter of at least 30cm and deep root systems. Oak, beech, ash and sycamore are good choices. Avoid young or shallow-rooted trees, anything showing disease or decay, and trees that lean or sway heavily in wind. The PVC tube and tree sling in the kit protect the bark at both anchors.
How long does it take to install?
An afternoon is typical for a straightforward run between two trees, working with a second person. Post installations take longer because the posts need setting and time to cure.
Is it suitable for adults?
Yes. The cable, carabiners, pulley and brake are all commercial-grade, which is what separates this from the toy kits sold elsewhere. [CHECK: maximum rider weight]
